St. Bede School offers Cross Country for students in grades K – 8. The St. Bede Cross Country team aims to get students outside and running in a challenging and supportive environment. All St. Bede and CCD students, regardless of age or ability, are encouraged to participate. Runners attend at least two practices per week and are guided by the concept of “My Race”, which encourages a focus on personal development and achievement.
St. Bede School competes with other Catholic, private and charter schools in Pittsburgh’s East End. The cross country season runs from mid-August through October, with races typically on Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons.
The Cross Country team is inclusive of all grades, though races are divided by age and gender in the following levels:
Novice
Junior Varsity (JV)
Varsity
Novice and JV races are typically run at a distance of 0.8 miles while Varsity races are typically run at a distance of 1.6 miles.
