Student Life

The Dress Code is required of all students in all grades, Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.  This policy is intended to maintain a standard of dress that is neat, economical, modest and attractive. Dress and grooming are important.  Emphasis is on cleanliness and neatness.

Extreme fads and styles (dyeing of hair in odd hues, long/unkempt hair, hair in eyes) are not acceptable.

NO sneakers/sneaker-like shoes, sandals, flip flops, open toe, open backs, or high heels are permitted. Boots are NOT to be worn during the school day – students must bring an appropriate pair of school shoes to change into during the winter season.

If a sweater is worn, an appropriate school shirt, blouse, or turtleneck must be worn underneath the sweater – t-shirts are not acceptable. Fleece jackets/shirts are NOT acceptable.

If a St. Bede School sweatshirt/hoodie is worn, an appropriate school shirt must be worn underneath the sweatshirt/hoodie – t-shirts are NOT acceptable.

All shorts must be worn at the appropriate length – NO shorter than 2 inches above the knee. NO skin tight or short shorts permitted. Shorts may NOT have pockets on the side. Shorts can only be worn from the opening day of school to October 1st and from May 1st to the end of the school year unless otherwise authorized by the school principal.

Uniforms can be ordered from Lands’ End. You can order on-line at www.landsend.com/school. When you order from Lands’ End, be sure to enter our Preferred School Number 900131178. St. Bede School will earn up to 3% back on your purchase of school uniforms.

A Uniform Exchange is coordinated by the PTG several times throughout the school year. Using the Uniform Exchange allows parents to provide a school uniform at no/low cost. Gently used uniforms are turned into the school and inspected and organized by parent volunteers. It is not necessary to have a uniform item to exchange in order to use the Uniform Exchange.
